ARBs: Definition, Clinical Context, and Cardiology Overview
ARBs are angiotensin II receptor blockers, a class of prescription cardiovascular drugs. They lower blood pressure and reduce harmful neurohormonal signaling in the heart and vessels. They are commonly encountered in cardiology clinics, inpatient wards, and heart failure programs. They are often discussed alongside ACE inhibitors (angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors) and other renin–angiotensin–aldosterone system therapies.
